I agree that there is a bit of difference. I was certainly surprised to see what appears to be a complete system. And I also am wondering just what was actually ordered.

What I was looking to do is put something together that I could use instead of the included control package, to use a standard light switch, not a momentary switch that I would have to hold down, to control the actuator and the light with one flip (lazy and a cleaner look) … so that when the hatch was open, the light is on. I would put this light switch in the standard gang box with the other light switches. Just a clean look. Yes, there was a ready to go package that functioned a little differently and I was contemplating going a slightly different direction.

Manufactured in Ukraine. They say they’ve sold many in the US with no issues. Other than the plug itself, should I be concerned about its ability to operate on dual voltages?

 

Configuring for the correct mains voltage is important, but seldom complex. Most dual-voltage systems try to make it simple and error-proof. Mostly that is the case.

Thanks for the response and links. I have no interest in disassembling for the fun of it…but just wanted to wire into the existing 120v stair tread lights that are very nice and control all with one switch. I think the momentary contact switch and use the preconfigured controll might be the best option suggested above.

Certainly an adequate description of the open/close system will allow a better understanding of what will be required to provide the requested control scheme. How much of what appears to be the actual system relative to the description in post #1 will be an education for all who are watching.

It seems that the first step will be to understand just exactly what the included control system actually does. UNTIL the actual operation is understood adequately, it is difficult to develop the best interface.

(I hope that my repeated suggestion to wait until the information is actually on hand is not offending anybody.)

Yes, I believe so. I’m really not sure until I receive the unit.

My plan will be to use the unit out of the box and separately wire a normally-on button switch to the hatch frame to control the stair lights. I’ll see how this works, and if it’s not satisfactory, I’ll look into modifications armed with a lot more information when the product is in-hand. You all are asking great questions that I don’t have enough answers for

It seems that until there is an actual system to evaluate that it is difficult to know for certain just exactly what it consists of.
