Once you design it, make sure it looks good as a header on your invoices (small), and in Black/white (not everything is printed in color. I just ran into a company that paid a fortune for a logo from a "professional designer" and the designer used light blue and a pink in the logo. He managed to perfectly nail the intensity of each so they looked the same when printed in grey scale.

Goal, not too much fine detail and make sure it looks ok in gray scale.

Ok, here's an idea, Strantor.

What you sell is robotics, ideas and solutions... so a robotic arm represents what you do, a lightbulb represents the idea, and when you put the two of them together, voilá! you hand your customer a solution.

Here's a representation of a robot doing that for you:

You may want to work on the colors, though. If you want the AutoCAD file for this thing, let me know.

Thanks! Did you do that just for me?

I think it's awesome but I feel like it would be borderline false advertising. I actually don't have any real experience with robots.

But I'm glad this came up because I wasn't aware of the common association between Mechatronics and robotics. I will be more careful about using that term.

Yeap... I did that just for you... if you don't like it, then I'll keep it for my own use... no worries ... but you still owe me a beer! :p

Anyway... if that's the case then, maybe we could substitute the robot arm with a wrench instead? That would be even simpler, and perhaps nicer-looking.

That's close to the logo of my 1st LLC in 2011. I made it in Paint LOL

So you prefer to make these in AutoCAD? Why is that?
'cause I'm a whiz in AutoCAD... that's why

I also like to use Corel Draw and such ... but I like AutoCAD better because then I can directly convert the drawing into code for a CNC Router that I designed and built 20 years ago.

I barely know what Vector Graphics are. When I went to have my first logo cut out in vinyl for my vehicle a few years ago, they requested Vector Graphics. Does AutoCAD export Vector Graphics?

AutoCAD is vector graphics... everything in it is made out of mathematically defined entities, such as lines, arcs and circles. Then there are surfaces, solids, etc. Once you draw something in AutoCAD, it becomes extremely easy to edit and manipulate.

It just occurred to me to Google "mechatronics logo." Apparently my idea was not so original.
It's very hard to come up with something original that doesn't suck. I'm very glad you are looking at what's already out there. Not only will you avoid some dead ends but it's a good way to clarify what you're looking for, and what doesn't work.

I've downloaded a new piece of software called InkScape and have been playing with it. I've never hear of it before, but apparently it's a potential of a PCB design solution. Maybe you guys would be interested. Here's a video. At first I thought the narrator was Dave from EEVBlog but it's probably just someone who sounds like him (and not just the accent, but the voice LOL)

So, strantor... how did it go with this little quest of yours?
Thanks for following up.
I contacted my family friend and he expressed interest but then did not reply to my last message. he probably just forgot, but I did not want to make him uncomfortable by forcing an answer if what he really wanted was for me to just go away. So I went away.

Instead I went to the website fiverr.com and contracted someone there to design my logo. I gave her some examples and paid $35. I think I got a pretty good deal. The logo is good, but I might try again and see if I can get a better one.

The girl on fiverr gave me the Adobe Illustrator files too, so I can edit the file myself if I can find someone with the software. I think my friend has it.

I liked the logo, just curious are you going to put something in writing below it? I mean most people won't get what you actually can do if traveling down the road.
