I've downloaded a fairly recent version of KiCAD and it appears to be OK, but all the tutorials I can find are for Windows OS, not iMac OS X. So I do not know if there are some differences for OS X users.

When I try to create a new project, I get an info window with message "Project template file <kica.pro> not found." On clicking its 'OK' button, then another window appears with "Kicad project file <Users/harleyshanko/Desktop/kicad-2011-06-12-135404/tute1/pro> not found."

Frustrating when one cannot complete the first step !!!

Anyone recognize such a problem?:(

@ Kermit2,

Were you responding to my post (with the URL below)? If so, I have no idea what to do with all that code.

In fact, I've tried to find the starting point to use my iMac to maybe 'fix' Kicad eventually. Seems there's a SDK or some other name app needed to compile all those lines of code, or changes to it. But I'd like to have an already compiled Kicad to just download to begin with. I don't have a lot of time to 'fritz' with the other.

There were several suggested changes that could be made in that text, but in all likelyhood it would not have fixed your problem. I was hoping once at that site you might dig around some more and perhaps discover something relevant to your situation.

try this instead,

Thank you Kermit2.

I don't recall seeing that site. Registered and posted my problem. Now awaiting an answer. Thank you for steering me to it.
