I’m 99% sure it’s a digital clock, but doesn’t appear to be anywhere to set it

what’s also throwing me is that it was made in the UK, hence not finding the Norwegian company

The Telex number kinda dates it back to at least the 70s... Those kind of advertising gimmicks used to be desk decorations.

 

Try shorting the two unoccupied pads according to the labels.

They are based in Crewe, and the dialling code on the clock is the dialling code for Crewe.
I can say for certain that it dates from before 16th April 1995, because that is when the 1 forming the second digit of the area code was added: 0270 became 01270.

 

I concur with the comments above. This was not intended to be a consumer product. It is for promotional purposes for the customer, Nortronic.

It uses a General Instruments CK3400 digital alarm clock IC from the 1970's. I can post a link to the entire GI 1977 Databook.
