It's also a perfect example of a straw man argument. But, whatever.

Sometimes it's best for one's sanity to let the children think they won.
Or, maybe making a claim of a "straw man argument" is the real straw man argument in this case. Have a good night.

I would not like to be this young woman. I wonder who will be the fall 'person'?
https://www.efinancialcareers.com/n...llison-alameda-research-ftx-sam-bankman-fried
It's a bad day and week for millennials in crypto. 30-year-old Sam Bankman-Fried (SBF) has already lost 94% of his fortune and is facing questions as to the probity of his actions after the Wall Street Journal reported that his crypto exchange, FTX, lent $10bn to his affiliated trading firm, Alameda Research. Constance Wang, the 28 year-old ex-Credit Suisse analyst running the day-to-day operations of FTX is presumably sharing the pain. Caroline Ellison, another 28-year-old SBF protégé already appears to be out of a job.

There's no indication that Ellison did anything illegal, and it's not clear which role she played in the use of FTX customer funds, if any, but she doesn't seem to have had a huge amount of experience prior to running a firm with an alleged $10bn of money sloshing around.
or this one.

Constance Wang joined FTX as chief operating officer in the Bahamas in 2019. Initially, she was chief operating officer (COO) of FTX's crypto derivatives exchange. In January 2022 she was promoted as CEO of FTX digital markets, with responsibility for the Bahamas HQ. An org chart published by the Information puts her one level below Sam Bankman-Fried.

This looks like a big job. All the more so because Wang is only a few years into her career. Before she joined FTX, most of her time had been spent at Credit Suisse in Singapore.

Wang wasn't an MD at Credit Suisse. She wasn't even a director or associate director. She was an analyst and she worked at the bank for two years, first in KYC in the private bank and then in APAC risk and controls. It was her first job out of university.

Sam Bankman-Fried steps down as FTX CEO as his crypto exchange files for bankruptcy
In the 23-page bankruptcy filing obtained by CNBC, FTX indicates that it has more than 100,000 creditors, assets in the range of $10 billion to $50 billion, as well as liabilities in the range of $10 billion to $50 billion. Bankman-Fried also indicated that he wishes to appoint Stephen Neal as the firm’s new chairman of the board.

Bloomberg Estimates Sam Bankman-Fried’s Net Worth at Zero

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/arti...go-from-16-billion-to-zero-after-ftx-collapse
The downfall of his crypto empire -- which filed for bankruptcy on Friday along with his resignation -- means assets owned by the mogul once likened to John Pierpont Morgan have become worthless. At the peak, the 30-year-old was worth $26 billion, and he was still worth almost $16 billion at the start of the week.

The Bloomberg Billionaires Index now values FTX’s US business -- of which Bankman-Fried owns about 70% -- at $1 because of a potential trading halt, from $8 billion in a January fundraising round. Bankman-Fried’s stake in Robinhood Markets Inc. valued at more than $500 million was also removed from his wealth calculation after Reuters reported it was held through his trading house, Alameda Research, and may have been used as collateral for loans. FTX.US and Alameda were also part of the bankruptcy filing.

In announcing it was filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, FTX said Friday in a statement that Bankman-Fried has resigned as chief executive officer and will be succeeded by John J. Ray III. Employees are expected to continue with the company and “assist Mr. Ray and independent professionals” during bankruptcy.

Just how difficult is it to be a CFO and handle 10 Billion Dollars, surely anyone with a Finance degree and a few months experience at a bank should be able to do it.

Oh, have you seen this one? A 32-year old CFO is much better at screwing up. He limits the actions to hishours off the clock rather than on the job.

I'm not saying one has to be old to be a CFO, just experienced and mature enough to contribute to managing situations that he/she has experienced directly or indirectly, or seen how unexpected situations can be managed if a new case arises. Managing people, money and projects, analyzing opportunities, advising the CEO or giving the board of directors bad news are all different skills and a CFO gets to do some of each.

You missed the report that Jenny got rid of her land line long ago. She said too many people were acting like they were in charge and then handing out her number when they realized they didn't know what they were doing.
Seems your name was near the top of that list.

FTX Is Investigating a Potential Hack Amid Bankruptcy Filing
Bankrupt cryptocurrency exchange FTX is probing a potential hack and asked customers to stay off the FTX website, the company said. More than $400 million worth of crypto funds appears to be missing, according to crypto analytics firm Elliptic Enterprises Ltd.
https://decrypt.co/114269/hundreds-...-from-ftx-overnight-in-unauthorized-transfers
Several wallets allegedly belonging to FTX were drained of hundreds of millions of dollars in coins late on Friday night, with much of the funds transferred from Tether (USDT) into stablecoin DAI, and from staked Ethereum (stETH) into Ethereum (ETH).

It was the same day that FTX filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, and it looked too soon, too late at night, and too sophisticated for the actions to be attributed to liquidators.

The exodus, all visible on blockchain tracker Etherscan, totaled around $650 million according to pseudonymous blockchain sleuth ZachXBT, widely trusted by the DeFi community.

Doesn't it feel like the house of cards is crumbling?
Nope, far too many rubes to be fleeced. It's not just about the money, parties are great too.

“Shocking” is a word that aptly describes the rapid fall of Sam Bankman-Fried’s cryptocurrency empire. To a surprising degree, it’s a sentiment that pours out from people who worked for him, people who you’d think would’ve had a clue.

How can that be? It may have something to do with a luxury penthouse in the Bahamas. That’s where 30-year-old Bankman-Fried is roommates with the inner circle who ran his now-struggling crypto exchange FTX and trading giant Alameda Research.

Many are former co-workers from quantitative trading firm Jane Street, others he met at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, his alma mater. All 10 are, or used to be, paired up in romantic relationships with each other. That includes Alameda CEO Caroline Ellison, whose firm played a central role in the company’s collapse – and who, at times, has dated Bankman-Fried, according to people familiar with the matter.
