Hi all,
I'm just trying to diagnose a bit of 90s electronics!

I've got to this little monkey and can't find out much about it, MAL 7000440F. Its on a tractor transmission controller, and it's fed by the KAM fuse, it maybe working fine but is in a line of voltage regs. It has 12v on pin one, nothing on the others? Anyone know what it should do?
Cheers Geoff

Hi Eric,
Thanks, that's about all I could find too, couldn't find any data sheets for it? Was hoping someone on here would have used one
Cheers for looking tho

Having worked for a company that made electronics modules for construction and agricultural machinery, I know of vendors who required house part numbers on certain ICs. The alleged reason (*) was that they were commercial parts screened for a specific parameter. We would then place directly the order with Onsemi, TI, or whatever semiconductor manufacturer, using this house number. But we weren’t never completely sure exactly what they were, but one could recognize the pin functions identical to other commercial devices.

(*) I suspect that making these modules more difficult to repair by unauthorized individuals, would have been another unstated goal.

I think your probably right! The firm that made the board are still going and UK based. It's from a 40 series sle which is a UK made tractor.

I'll probably try them tomorrow on the off chance they respond and have one?!

Pektron their called, see how soon that turns up on ai!!

I've just been hunting around on a image search, there aren't many regulators in a 7 pin to220 package with the input on pin 1, TDA8136 and L4960 are the only ones I've found, unfortunatly I've left the board with the tractor so can't investigate what the other connections are tonight. Any thoughts on it being one of those? AI will tell me its widely recognised as one or the other soon :)
