The pagers that detonated were the latest model brought in by Hezbollah in recent months, three security sources said.

Total rumor:
The American University Hospital in Beirut reportedly collected all pagers from its nurses and doctors about 10 days ago, citing 'technical issues,' according to employees. Lebanese media is now alleging that the hospital may have been forewarned of the cyberattack by Israel or the U.S.

Pagers come with self-destruct codes...who knew.
If the pagers have not been physically doctored. Selective, high probability remote battery detonation is something that's been feared for a while as a possible cyber threat.
