I raised cattle on a farm and have seen the damage they can do to fragile habitat. I'm all for culling them using the safest most humane methods. By helicopter is perfectly acceptable. My only problem is them previously leaving the carcasses on the ground and near water to rot or be randomly eaten. We always properly disposed dead cattle to reduce the local environmental damage.

My daughter's orchestra has a blind girl that plays clarinet and does so quite well. Since she can't sight read new music, her teacher takes new music and makes a recording of it. She then learns the piece based solely on the recording (and verbal feedback during lessons, of course). It's been a joy not only to see how she copes and thrives, but also how all of the other kids support her. One girl, in particular, took it upon herself to be her guide during rehearsals and performances to help her get to and from where she needs to go. The performance venues likewise have been very supportive. At the Pikes Peak Center for the Performing Arts, the kids had to go up and down several flights of stairs (with their instruments) and when I asked them if I could use their backstage elevator to reduce the stair count, they didn't even blink and just told me where they hide the key.

I'm hoping she will enter the Young Artists Solo Competition next year. The music has to be performed from memory, which is not a problem for this kid!

When I saw that tug (or whatever) go scooting by while the crane was in motion, I cringed. I'm surprised they don't have a keepout zone that can't be occupied any time the crane is powered up that is large enough to ensure that no one can be within the dump zone if the crucible should get upset.

The PNW covers a lot of territory. Some of the big city's are insane but most everywhere else has the common-sense to keep a person like that in jail.
