The prison jargon term “duck” refers to an institution employee who can be manipulated or easily fooled.
“Only one thing. Now that you are back in prison, are you trying to acquire, or have you acquired another duck?”
I leaned back on my chair, fixed my eyes on the petitioner as I thought about the question, took a stick of chewing
gum from my shirt pocket, unwrapped it, and slowly slid it into my mouth. I stood to leave the room, paused at the
door, smiled, and said, “They don’t sell gum in these joints…later, man!”

What a sad, sad story ... a poor woman throws away her life for a love fantasy. She must've been very lonely indeed. :(
WFT?
Casey White could be charged with Vicky White's murder

An escape charge would be hard to prove, murder, impossible IMO. I would say (as a lawyer) she was a kidnapper with guns, handcuffs, money and committed suicide when about to be arrested for her many crimes to my client and society. ;)

The rather important ability of logical thinking seems to be badly lacking in our law enforcement institutions nowadays ...

Root cause was likely loneliness - that being the case, her friends and family sould also be charged with murder (unless nobody gets charged with murder).

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un ordered all cities to be put under lockdown after the state for the first time Thursday said it has Covid-19 in its borders.

“A serious situation has been created due to the introduction of a stealth omicron mutant virus into our precincts,” its official Korean Central News Agency said. At a party meeting attended by Kim, authorities elevated the country’s national quarantine measures to “maximum emergency,” it added.

Kim ordered “all cities and counties across the country to thoroughly lockdown their areas,” so as to “completely block the transmission of malicious virus,” according to KCNA.

This guy would better start getting busy:

A couple in the north Indian state of Uttarakhand are suing their only son and his wife for not giving them a grandchild after six years of marriage. Sanjeev and Sadhana Prasad, 61 and 57, say they used up their savings raising their son, paying for his pilot's training as well as a lavish wedding. They are demanding compensation worth nearly $650,000 (£525,000) if no grandchild is born within a year. The highly unusual lawsuit was filed on grounds of "mental harassment".

Cornish pub will not change name despite letter from Vogue owner
Landlords of Star Inn at Vogue says it ‘wouldn’t have taken five minutes’ to find out pub is named after hamlet
The Star Inn has been in the small village of Vogue, near St Day, for hundreds of years, Mark wrote in response – in which his answer to the request was a “categorical no”.

The magazine’s letter was “hilariously funny”, he wrote. He believes it was sent in confusion after the couple changed their trading status to a limited company.

He added: “I presume that at the time when you chose the name Vogue in the capitalised version you didn’t seek permission from the villagers of the real Vogue. I also presume that Madonna did not seek your permission to use the word Vogue (again the capitalised version) for her 1990s song of the same name.”
