The best part:

Doctors declared him dead on Monday but coincidentally only after the man’s family told the hospital that looked after him they no longer had the funds to pay for his care.

Then, as the family was preparing for his funeral, Bennett, who had been traveling out of state, returned to town and showed up at a friend’s barbecue, completely unaware that he had been pronounced dead.

"She said, 'He's here! He's alive!'" Bennett's sister, Yolanda Harvey, told reporters.

Authorities then transferred the body of the misidentified man to the Cook County Morgue, where fingerprinting identified him as 68-year-old Elisha Brittmann. At that point officials contacted Brittmann’s family to inform them of his death.

No rub his belly with cold cream is what the shop owner told me. Had a hard time understanding as he kept saying something like kol kleem.

Confused... National and State Park trails usually off-limits to dogs. Anyone that high to have so much residual THC in their crap are flying way too high to be hiking. I call BS on that looney story. More likely the dog ate their stash. Backpackers and cats cover their scat, unlike dogs and bears.

Officers arrived and the suspect, 38-year-old Ryan Douglas Bishop, emerged from the crawl space. The woman who lives in the home pointed out that Bishop was wearing her “Christmas onesie” pajamas.

“Indeed he was. She requested it not be returned,” according to the Gresham Police Department.

Investigators said Bishop and his cat, named Spaghetti, got comfortable during the burglary: He made coffee, ate a cupcake and raided the clothes dryer for a new outfit.

Bishop was booked into the Multnomah County Jail on charges of burglary, theft and criminal mischief.

Animal control was called out to deal with the uncooperative Spaghetti

Most Backpackers have a lot more respect for the outdoors than casual day hikers. I avoid the public outhouses in the parks like the plague due to the nasty misuse of them. The same can be said for a lot of the indoor plumbed public restrooms in most city parks. Down here public beach dogs have to be leashed and many beaches off-limits to dogs. A whole different world when I go to visit my son in Seattle.

If anything it's the reverse -- dogs are welcome in almost all national and state parks (on the trails), usually with the requirement that they be on a leash no longer than six feet.

As for the story, I have no idea whether it's true or not.

Lethal dose in dogs of THC is about 3g/kg via ingestion. I couldn't find a lethal dose for humans via ingestion (with some sites claiming it's not possible, but I don't buy that without some good supporting documentation). So that may argue that dogs are sufficiently more sensitive to THC that levels in feces might be sufficient. But, if so, then I would have expected it to be mentioned in at least one of the many pages I skimmed looking for the toxicity information in dogs and it wasn't. They all stated that the main source was dogs eating their owner's stash (though, of course, it could be someone else's stash, too). But that doesn't really say that the story is bogus because fecal ingestion may simply be a sufficiently odd and rare route of poisoning that it's not worth mentioning but happens to be a noticeable route in certain locations (such as Aspen where hiking and toking are a destination theme).
