BITD, circa 1975 when I lived in a coconut grove as a teacher in Ghana the best way to harvest was to get a local student to just climb up and cut some down. No complicated machine or gas required. From the BBC story they estimated chance of explosion at 50/50. They had moved everyone out of the way so they were all safe to celebrate later. Good job.Is it safe?

- Judge Amy Coney Barrett, the president's Supreme Court nominee, apologized on Tuesday for using the widely criticized term "sexual preference" to refer to LGBTQ Americans' sexual orientations. [Yahoo News]
WAIT! WHAT?! Boy "Political Correctness" has REALLY become overbearing in its presence. Since when am I forced to use LGBTQ instead of "sexual preference"? I don't use the N word - I understand its offensiveness. However, I don't understand why black people can call that word "THEIR" word. OK, nevertheless, anyone other than a black person using that term is derogatory. I haven't called anyone that "N" word in many many years. Not since junior high school. Nobody forced me to stop. I stopped because I decided it was an ugly word. But now I'm going to be accused of using ugly language for commenting on "sexual preference"? REALLY?
GEEZ! Whats the world coming to?
its not LGBTQ that is the non-offensive phrase. It’s “sexual orientation”. Sexual preference implies a non-scientific description, that is deemed offensive. It’s like calling people as having a “black preference”. Many conservatives deny rights based on a preference. In the case of LGBTQ, they’re wrong. Dead wrong.
