Amplifier gain measurement

Hi All.

I was wondering if anyone has a block diagram of the correct configuration to measure gain? I am using a N5230 PNA.

The device is a GaAs MMIC. I am not familiar with biasing, vdd +3.5 and vg -4.5

Usually there is a test circuit configuration schematic in the MMIC datasheet.

Your VNA manual surely must show basic measurement setup.

Exercise care in setting up interface to VNA to make sure your levels at
50 ohms meet the VNA limits for power.

Regards, Dana.

Unfortunately I can't locate the OEM data sheet. The info I have is only a table with frequency range, gain specification, and input voltages to the drain and gate. Theres no mention of current and my concern is vna protection.

The MMIC die is labeled as a M/A-COM 580, but I've searched for the original spec but was unable to locate it.

I hadn't tried M/A-COM support. The attached was all the info I had on this device, looks mostly like an in-house spec rather than the OEM data sheet. I don't believe this is the same device as the link that you provided.

I am trying to measure gain as S21 on a N5280. Biasing as shown on the attached spec.

Many thanks for your responses.
