Download this book and put it in your library. This is a great book about a fella who heard a story about a magnet and became obsessed.

Not only will it give you a great understanding of currents.....but how a lot of electric properties were discovered. It also shows how relativity and atomic properties were discovered long before what you've been taught.

His discoveries are truly great, but hardly ever taught. It's so much more than just parallel wires. Ampere discovered and measured and equated the angular force of charge. Weber confirmed it to a T. Did you know that a secondary current can sneak up on a primary current at any velocity, without being detected. AND then....depending on how the secondary current exposed itself to the primary current(by turning left or turning right)......can either attract or repel the primary current. Not only did Ampere discover motor action......he also discovered induction. But you have not been taught that. Ampere was heavily criticized.

But for me......the best part by far...........is how this man explored the unknown in such a reasonable manner.

Because of the time period(this stuff was all unknown)....and because every detail and aspect of the experiments is covered....all the terms, symbols and equipment......this is a great beginners book for anyone wanting to learn on their own.

A great reference for learning how to set things up to analyze and reason. True genius.

Thanks!! Very useful.
However for me in the 100% identical situation the moderator of this site gave a strong WAAARN and eliminated the link and post.
See, in the first page of book stays the sign (C) and it has a certain juridical consequencies, invented by You, Americans (probably worst ever in history invention making unhappy as authors, as readers).
Thus congrats to everyone what got it before it has been redacted.

This particular book was first published in 1915 and is not covered by U.S. copyright laws. Don't know about other jurisdictions like Canada where it was reprinted.

Nice old book of outmoded (the book actually explains the opposition to these concepts nicely) ether concepts of the universe from ~1825. Chapter 15 starts to explain it's problems with today's physics.
In his paper of 1905 introducing the special theory of relativity, Albert Einstein (1879-1955) made the ether superfluous and considered that light and the electromagnetic waves propagate in empty space, our emphasis:
Faraday, Maxwell and Lorentz are the founders of modern electromagnetics (fields) as this book on Amp`ere’s Electrodynamics completely fails (as expected for it's time) to explain the self propagating EM waves that we use with most electronic devices today.
