hello friends i m making combinatio lock ....in 914 is not available on any shop........so plz can u tell me alternative for this diode.......

A 1N4148 diode is exactly the same as a 1N914 diode.

in 4148 is retifier diode but in 914 is working as switching diode in my project...will it make any difference????

A diode is a diode. The term switching and rectifier refer to how the didoe is normally used in a cicuit. If you are rectifying small low current signals then you can used a 1N4148.

 

Can't believe the 1N914 is hard to find, it's been around for ever. I bought 1,000 for $5.00, about 4 years ago, probably still have close to 900, lifetime supply...

I use them for pretty much everything low power. Blocking diode for small solar panels, rectifier for running a microcontroller from a Joule Thief, or LEDs with the built-in flash circuits. It's a very useful part.
