hello sir, first of all i am new in this forum so pls forgive me if i am in the wrong place
i have a set top box adapter which is 12.0v and 2.0A and now the adapter is gone weak and its now releasing the power of around 11.5v and 0.15A
so if there is any solution pls let me know, my opinion is the capacitors but not sure, so sending you the photo also
hope getting reply soon

Welcome to AAC!
Electrolytic capacitors are a prime cause of failure. If replacing them, make sure to use good quality low ESR types with the correct rating. And be careful....those caps can hold LETHAL voltages.

yes i know it holds current in it. but did u mean i should change the one which r huge and connected near to ac input or the one which r connected near dc output.

thanks for quick reply

Sounds like it's gone into Overcurrent mode, these sense the current in the Primary winding on the mosfet Source pin, otherwise it's the dustbin !

That is arguably the one most likely to need replacing. Unless you can provide a schematic of the adapter we can only guess which other components would be worth checking/replacing. Replacing parts at random would be frustrating and expensive. You could end up paying more for spare parts than the cost of a new adapter. Adapters (switch-mode power supplies) are not the easiest beasts to deal with.

actually i am receiving many of this kind of adapters now a days from different king of set top boxes having same problem of weak ampere and complete out put of voltages. as of now i have 8 adapters pending with me to get new one. so i thought to give it a try if it is only capacitors then i could replace the capacitors and earn money out of it. instead of get them new one which cost me around 180 INR. so if there is any way pls tell me. i am looking for its schematic yet. so if without schematic any advice?
