BTW when sizing a thyristor-based control system for inductive loads consider the basic rule of sizing the devices at a minimum of 2X the peak voltage and 4X the anticipated amps.

I have these triacs rated 600V and 60 Amps, at least, I think they are, but that should be fine.
For the ball mill I will be looking for a cordless drill motor, they run on 12V dc and I can change the speed with a PWM or the built in mechanic.
