I have done that! Run an electric dragster off of a 9 volt battery. It won races, since it went a lot faster tha when it ran off of the 2 AA cells. It was a plastic model named "The Peeler", back in 1959.I always imagined running an electric car off of a 9 volt transistor battery. Maybe now I have the tools to do it.
