I changed my notification settings, as I was receiving too many email notifications. It didn’t appear to work. I unchecked all email notifications. Does this particular option request take time to be in effect?

In the Dark Mode on this classic screen, the background is Black w/ white lettering. The contrast and brightness are both adjustable and the default is 50% which suits me fine but I can lighten or darken if wanted. I have no idea what the Filtered mode is as it looks the same and of course Normal or OFF. Turns on for each site when on that site if it can support it and only at that site. So can choose which sites to use it on if it supports it. It stays selected for the site even if you switch or close the site until you turn it off for that site. I use it for MS Edge and the icon sits up on the toolbar next to the site select/search field Much easier on my eyes than stark white backgrounds. I also use the MS Night Light but it only softens the screen and nowhere near a good as Night Eye. YMMV

click on forums again - The alert box doesn't dismiss as contrasted by clicking on Giveaways.

Check the behavior with other stuff on the same line as Forums and Giveaways.

I would remind all of the fact that at best only half of all changes are improvements. In this case it hit "out of the blue" and I presumed that I had gone in the wrong direction through some dumb error on my part. So far the one thing that I miss is in profiles, where before I might see that somebody is a student, or claiming to be an engineer, or a Maker. Now that is gone, it appears. It always amazed me the fundamentals that some "engineers" did not know or understand.
Hopefully there will be some spot where we can learn about what has been changed, so that I don't spend lots of time trying to see what I did wrong.

When looking at latest threads one can only see one page of the latest threads.
No option to go back in time more than 1 page worth.

Whats the easy way to see post I have made sorted by date, latest to oldest ?

Regards, Dana.

Hello,

In "new posts" there is also a button "latest activity".
That starts with the newest activity and goes older the further down you go.
On the bottom of the page there is a button "show older items".

FYI
Still receiving unwanted notifications as of 1:20 pm ET today.
Indeed! I post a comment and then get a notice that somebody has posted a comment and when I check I find that it was ME! And I already know what I said in my post. But that has been happening occasionally for a while now.
And I, also, on many occasions want to go back to earlier posts, or even to the original post, and check something.

I'm not able to log into the front-page to leave comments. The comment box says "please log in to leave a comment" I try to log in, and it redirects me to the forums. Go back to the front-page, and I'm apparently not logged in again. Go to log in and "You are already logged in" and I'm back in the forums. Wash - Rinse - Repeat.

Then how did you leave this one?

@shortbus,
The short answer is "Magic." But to your point, the problem was with leaving comments to articles on the mainpage, not comments in forums. Solved by logging completely out and then back in. Rob pinged me within about 45 seconds and got me sorted out.

Which reminds me. I need to go leave a comment on an article. :) Someone was wrong on the internet and I have to tell them. (The someone was me. I forgot to include a link to an article).

I want to make a prediction. When it comes time for the next forum update, you guys that are complaining about this forum software now, will complain again because a change was made. Just be glad or happy that we have such a great place, that doesn't cost us a thing, to hang out in.
Once again I point out that at best only half of all changes are improvements. The one exception is the changing of baby diapers.

Just want to point out that we're talking about an iceberg here. The cosmetic changes to XF in 2.1 are nothing compared to the improvements to the underlying code base.

* edit - I should add that we'll continue to improve any UI issues, but the underlying software is muuuuuch better

It seems that I had not been familiar with what needed to be changed, and I was not aware of flaws or defects. I have seen that folks were able to post files from programs that I was unable to open, but that was obviously my problem, not theirs, because it was the simulation programs that produced those files. so I do not complain about that.
