And on the other end of the scale, I have none and 14 sounds like a lot.
Posting in technically oriented forums, I learnt to answer, amongst other things: compared to what, wayneh?

/EDIT to add

42 in my list - most of them probably unknown to most of you in this forum.

EDIT/

I think it is his way of saying, he would rather leave than listen to members' replies to his political ramblings.
In all fairness I too protested (on this forum) the policy change following [my] participation in political debate on OT (worse yet, I returned to politically divisive posting following said protest:oops:) -- Point being - I was and remain absolutely sincere in my criticism of said change -- As I'm certain @jpanhalt does!

Very best regards

I'm just saying that Jpanhalt was often the first to bring politics into an interesting thread and he would become nasty when anyone disagreed with him. Therefore, I dont think he was anti politics, I think he simply didn't like when people disagreed with his political assertions.

Owing to our disparity of perception in this matter - I make a motion to agree to disagree...K?

Wow it must be a tough job to be a mod. ;)
That's one reason they are happy when a regular points to a post which is out of place. There just isn't enough time to read every single post and vet them all.
Yebut... The 'active kernel' numbers markedly less than 200!?
Most of what I ignore is people who only do microprocessors, simulators, or RF questions, because I'm incompetent in those subjects.:( After that comes people who need 35 answers for how to calculate the resistor for an LED. Then there's the Fargin Iceholes who are just annoying with their constant references to sex, booze, and their One And Only, God Blessed, pet Operating System which would cure all computer problems and has no limitations or problems of its own.

At the end of the year, I find mostly One Thread Wonders who quickly dropped out because they don't have a clue about electronics and are way over their depth on this site...and a couple who I can't tell whether they are Trolling or Just Stupid.

On another site, there is a person who seems to think I am there to share my personality with him. Mostly, I'm not. Mostly, I give technical advice as a "bread on the water" offering. The "customers" can take it or leave it. It is only this site where I allow some of my personality to show. Some like it, some don't, and that's the way the cookie crumbles. In any large population, some people won't like me.

Personal experience shows 3% of all customers simply don't like me and there is nothing I can do to their machine that will suit them. That's why I was grateful to have a business partner who was very different from me. He fixed my 3% and I fixed his 3%.:) On this site, I have a couple of dozen partners who can fix those with whom I can't seem to communicate.

I can program in Basic, so I could probably use PICs without much learning, but I don't have any business trying to fix the specialized problems which are peculiar to microprocessor architecture.
next Christmas, I'm going to send an Arduino to:

West of Tamps, FL

Then you'll learn how easy it is. I'm sure you'll be buying dozens of additional arduino said to automate every part of your car.

I have no argument with using a microprocessor for your own purposes. I object to the microprocessors installed in millions of retail devices which make them un-repairable except for the purchase of a whole circuit board for over $100 to replace a $2 MPU. That completely betrays the lie that microprocessors make appliances cheaper. They don't. They make appliances trash-can-ready so they have to be replaced at a much higher cost than a repair.

...Or host a clinic on the oh so outre art of soldering!

Congratulations!:) I know my 'favorables' will never attain anything like 97% !

Friends don't start friends on Arduino!;)

I think what you are missing is... "That microprocessors make appliances cheaper to manufacture". Who ever said that cost reduction has to passed on to the buyer???
Then too, ease of user-serviceability is the veritable bane of corporate control culture:mad:

Best regards
