We're still not going to do your homework for you.

Since you didn't bother to label your schematic, please provide the boolean equations for BCD to Excess-3; and be sure to tell us which bits are LSB and MSB. Is your solution supposed to convert all digits? Or just the ones in your ID?
There's a lot of things the TS didn't explain clearly, and some information were missing....:(

Since today is the deadline of his assignment, I wonder if he is still interested in pursuing this particular assignment to understand further or just for the grades. If he does come back, he would have amble time to understand more where his mistakes were and learn how to tackle similar problems in future.

But if he doesn't come back...... Just keep my fingers crossed.:D

I've noticed that most students coming here fall into a couple of categories. Those who have the right attitude and are only looking for guidance and those who are looking for someone to do their homework.

It seems that the latter look for greener pastures when we don't fall for their ploys. Sometimes they're able to trick well intending members and sometimes members are anxious to show what they know. I gave someone an answer once instead of guiding them and don't plan to do it again.

The OP only joined recently. Time will tell which category s/he is in.

I'd welcome the opportunity to teach some of the students how to draw a readable schematic. I'm learning how to use Multisim because it seems to be used by a lot of schools and now understand why some of the schematics look so horrible. But they can be cleaned up manually, but that aspect of electronics seems to elude many.

Check your segment assignments for the display. Your digit 6 converts to 9 in Excess-3; you have segment 'b' off and the rest on. That gives you 6, not 9. There may be other errors, that one just stood out.
You only have to make sure that your refusal to do work for someone is not mistaken for sniping. I certainly expect to take a more direct course in the future, and I make the following vow:

If I must be obscure, I will try to be obscure clearly.

Yes, I do agree that most of what you said are true. I also guess that some of them have tried a few e. forums before coming here or have posted them on many forums at the same time.

But on this particular one. His approach for help is wrong. He should have put out his truth tables and equations for his assignment INSTEAD of the schematics, not to mention that it's difficult to read. He didn't know that nobody is going to reverse engineer his schematic back to equations and truth tables in order to help him find out where his problems were.

I didn't learn how to use multisim and I use proteus extensively. Proteus also has the same problem of producing spaghetti-like schematics when using it the first time. It is the accumulated experience that make the schematics look good. Shouldn't it be the same with multisim too? Anyway I'll find some spare time to learn multisim, just to have a taste of it. And it'd be helpful if posters upload their schematics in raw multisim format.

If they don't take the time to draw a schematic neatly, the truth tables would be useless, as the problem would still exist.

Yes, it takes time to draw a neater schematic, but, that will make the bread boarding easier, assuming they use the same diligence when wiring the breadboard.

Of course, if one slaps something together, you get what you currently see.
