You can tell whether or not the '555 is oscillating in the right frequency range by listening to is with an earphone. Put a 1K resistor in series to protect the '555 and your hearing.

Okay, this reply is off topic, but on point.

I am, like so many other members, here to learn. I hope that I can provide a few answers to give back, but I'm not there yet. I am bootstrapping myself into something approaching minimal competency with DC, the beginnings of AC, and a few other specialized topics. The fact that I could follow both sides of this thread says that I am better off than the thread starter, but as I could not have offered any of the useful tips and creative solutions to troubleshooting, I clearly have things to learn.

What I learned by reading this thread is that there are some people that are pretty grumpy. I also learned that there are some that make assumptions without really reading the posts. I learned that there is some intolerance of the use of anything but the best english grammar and perfect spelling.

Most of all, I learned that advice should be offered assuming that the recipient is starting from near zero understanding. I should give an answer if I can, but provide links or take the time to write the information to make my answer clear to as many levels of knowledge as possible. One person asked the question, but hundreds will read it. Most of those readers will have little more knowledge of troubleshooting, circuit analysis, proper terminology, and general principals as I did when I attempted my first few physical circuit builds.

I could go on to say how disappointed I was to see some of the responses in this, the first forum post I have read from end to end, but I think I've said enough.

Thanks to those who helped! I hope to learn more from a few of you as quickly as I can sponge up the info!

You two sure gets along fine.

If you guys think we do not help then you should be somewhere else. We did not force you to come here.
AAC has provided a lot of help to countless members.
If you want to judge us then be a member of AAC for a couple of years first.

I think we both acknowledged that help was given and appreciated. I think my point was that judgement should not be happening, regardless of when one came or what one knows. The idea of AAC is to convey information. I was not trying to offend. Just to gently point out that there is room for improvement on all sides.

Experience is not a license for condescension. It's an opportunity to share the wealth of your knowledge with all comers.

when you were young and started electronics didnt u go to random forums to get help and one of them forum is here ?.

We did not force you to come here.
did i say that, i can feel the vibration and force in these words.

look i can be just like you , i can talk the way you do , i am not like you , you was a beginner at one time to and needed help am sure you got abused like this too , but in time ahead you have picked it all up , so why not share what you know rather then saying negetive things turning people down.

people say bad things to me but still i press thanks button to them cause they spent time writing and reading , and i dont take anything personally, am not that weak to cry.

i in my time from the past even from now i do all i can to help people.
i provide food and cloths to poor on street to all race my eyes can se , i eat a bread i se a poor man on the floor i give him my bread, then i open my 100 pound jacket and give it him, then give him money and lastly a hug before i go,in return i ask him to pray for me and for others.

when a person dies ,even they not related to me , i volonteer and help bury the person, i get dirty all over my new cloths but dont think about me i think about the deseased more because his in a badder positon then me.

how wil u feel if you be let down in life when you need help , maybe not now, but later , everybody on earth struggles.

I did not. I searched and found that AAC does offer a lot of help than any other forum as far as I have seen. Members can be quirky and sarcastic, but that does not prevent them from helping. So I registered and I got what I asked for. True that I got the same sort of responses. But that did not stop me from being here. You may find me in some forums but I am not even 1% active on them. You will always find me here.

There is no vibration or force here. Just concerns that you do not end up on members ignore list. A new comer should be careful. Long time members here have knowledge which you will benefit. So chose your words carefully. This is not a threat. Just concern. We will not lose anything if you leave.

so why not share what you know rather then saying negetive things turning people down.
What are you talking about. No body is being negative here and no body turned you down.
And I have given you advice's. If you can't take an advice why ask ?
You have a hard time understanding the advice given to you.

people say bad things to me but still i press thanks button to them cause they spent time writing and reading , and i dont take anything personally, am not that weak to cry.
They are not saying bad things. It's just that they have experience and the advice's seems negative to you.
The things said are not like personally attacking you. Like I said, Advice from experience.

That is indeed very kind of you. Keep up the good work. :)
I will always try to help you. One problem is that you do not take advice that easily. :(

how wil u feel if you be let down in life when you need help , maybe not now, but later , everybody on earth struggles.
Been there. but that did not stop me from trying again on new ways.

Frankly I'm struggling to see the merit of this post in a finished thread (and this reply ;)). Seems like more of a trolling effort to me. The irony of the entire post lies within its antagonism and short term observations.
