I have a 3 wire 220 volt line going from breaker box to the edge of my freestall. Can I run that to a box that holds 2 breakers and run two 4 wire lines out of the box to my fans hanging in barn. Supply store sold me the stuff with the info I gave them. But I thought the supply line was 4not 3.

 

Is the 220 volt line in an armored cable or conduit that's being used as earth ground? If you don't know what you're doing, the safest thing would be for you to consult an electrician. Outdoor wiring needs to be protected by GFCI and requires a good earth ground.

 

Its in an armored cable and all the wiring is indoors.

 

Are the fans 120VAC?

 

If you have 4 wire line but only need three wires then either not use the spare 4th line or use it as a ground line.
