I am replying to your post from a while ago and this is the switch that I need for my wind machine. I can't seem to find it anywhere.
Could you possibly help me out and tell me where I can find one? I live in Des Moines, Iowa and I'm just a retired DIY lover.
I am sending a picture of the switch I am referring to and please let me know where I could possibly find one, thanks.

I see the switch, not in focus, but it looks a bit like the clear photo in post #1. The second switch photo is useless because it does not show the terminal designations, which is what matters.
What would have been useful would have been making a drawing showing which wires went where, with the fan motor wires having been identified somehow.

If an ohm meter is available then it will be very useful to check the resistance of the motor connections and of the switch.
15 years ago when my three speed box fan failed, after some checking it was the mains power cord had developed a break where it entered the case. The good part is that I did not immediately rip all of the wires off the switch.

Thanks for getting back to me, well, this is the switch that I am trying to purchase and I was just wanting to know where I might be able to get one possibly?

Welcome to AAC.

This will work.

Four position three speed fan switch.

The only difference in this one from your original is that yours passes the neutral through the switch as well. To be clear, the neutral passing through the switch does nothing at all. You can simply splice the neutrals (cord and fan motor) together. The "L" is "Line" or "Hot". 1, 2 & 3 are the speeds for the fan motor.

Before you start replacing things, why do you need to replace the switch? Does the motor run or not? If not - it could be a fusible link has blown. Those are not easily replaced. If yours is blown then replacing the switch will do nothing to solve the problem.
