I just found here .

I am having the same problems since they released pickit4 and ICD4s.

First the "programme-to-go" feature dissappeared . I made a long chat with Microchip support, then they finalized with Pickit3 no more can get support. Then this connection problems. I have been trying giving the supply from the board, notworking , then from the pickit3, then I unplug it from usb, shut down the IPE, then connect again, then try to connect to another pic to download a different firmware, then changing back to my pic in the project , changing voltages (mostly setting to 3.0V working) , but nowadays 3 of my pickit3 doesnt working. Only pickit4 is working. On the other hand , I start having the issues on ICD3's too !!! ..

I am doubting its been planned by purpose to spend on new ICDs and Pickits. Strongly thinking so .

Oh ! .. didnt know that .

I've been having serious difficulties finding PICs for my productions. I asked Microchip if I should start learning other microcontrollers, they just replied "plan your 2023-24 even 2025 , we are not sure when will it be solved"

I am at the edge ...

On the last year i have forced to redesign two of my main products due the lack of used components. I made two different variants of designs, both with possibilities embed different PIC MCU families and selection of discrete components with different footprints. This helped me a lot in current component supply problem. Btw, Microchip seems to managing better as MCU supplier than STM.
