The post in the wrong thread has been corrected.

For myself I recommend 24-0-24 Volt 4 Amp because I feel that for me paying long dollar possibly room to grow.

Having a conversation on the forum that is not UL approved construction. Might be some kids trying that so being careful. First everybody has a life vest and knows how to line up for life boat drill. Young person reading this could be seriously hurt if procedures are not followed. The same with switch mode. The assembled boards are under $10.00. always short out the capacitors using a resistor because handling mains can be dangerous. It is the subject nothing personal. I have seen more than I care to see with stacking power units. Second thank you for your service and may they rest in peace.
First, I was suggesting that the TS could use materials on hand to get the required power level. Not everybody has funds to fling at whatever ebay has to sell, keep that in mind. And what does one gain in experience purchasing stuff that comes with no documentation at all?? Creativity does not consist of purchasing stuff.

Ok sorry for less than focused on using what you have. Also sorry for any comments that are tangent to where discussion goes.

There are plenty of 12-0-12 if it is marked then what is it? Identify primary, secondary. Identify the output voltage. Identify the rated amperage.

in this case looking for 120VAC to access the rated amperage of an unmarked transformer. Where did it come from a television ? Connected to what circuit having what fuse? All my transformers are marked by me. The identification of it's rated amperage may require work, searching part numbers might work. A garage sale flea market. Computer power supply. Battery charger, boat anchor equipment. The salvage and scrapping of roadside dumpings. You find something almost correct the documentation is best guess but fortunately you have a multimeter.
