12V DC Power Supply, 40' Splice?

Hello all, I'm new to this site and have a general question regarding a project that needs a power supply.

I have a camera that runs on 12V DC that is 40' away from it's only power source, AC receptacle.

I need to run the power through a very small conduit. My plan was to have the AC to DC adapter plugged in by the receptacle, splice the adapter with 40' of 14/2 cable to have in between the conversion block and the termination needed for the camera to function.

Is this feasible? I am unsure if there would be significant loss on the line since it's is so long or if that the AC to DC Adapter would have too much strain on itself.

Thank you in advance for your consult.

Regards.

What is the current rating for the camera? Since 14/2 is heavy enough to run a microwave oven, it certainly is OK for a (assumed) small camera. 18/2 lamp cord or 22/2 alarm wiring also should work.

AK, thanks for the reply.

I just wonder if you could tell me whether or not the AC to DC Adapter would suffer any long term damage through splicing it with that extension? I'm afraid that it wont function properly with a run that long between the end termination and it's block.
