I have a 12v 2A adapter and want to use it to power my raspberry pi n stuff. Can please someone help me with a stable regulator circuit of 5v and current more than 3A preferably 4A.
12x2=24w
so 5x4.8=24w
at 85% efficiency output current will be 4.08A. so theoreticalli its possible.

A switch mode regulator such as this should do what you want. It would probably be cheaper to buy a mains to 5 volt power supply than trying to make do with the 12 volt one that you have.

Hi,

Have to watch out for those little buck converters, the chip can be rated for 3 amps but that is with the proper heatsink which i see many of these boards simply dont have. That means they overheat and shut down at 3 amps but might work ok at 2 amps.
You can look at the board measurements and compare to the data sheets.
I got a couple so i was able to measure directly.
