Noob.

I have a trailer that was broken into a few nights ago.

I purchased a motion camera that records to an internal sd card. It comes with a power supply that has an output of 12v 1000mAh. My trailer is unattached to my truck for about 6 days out of the week.

I'm wondering how to get power to this unit. I don't have the capability to bring AC power to it so is there any way to supply it with "long" lasting battery power?

I'm by no means an electrical engineer ... I'm a musician with a little bit of experience building things so I'm hoping anyone has any thoughts on if this is even possible?

OR -- I could put some type of Solar Power pad on top of my trailer since it sits in the sun all day here in Southern California!?

 

There are plenty 12V solar battery boosters for sale on Ebay.
They are usually designed to charge a Lead acid battery, but have a look. You need the solar panel and the charge controller.

I wasn't sure if the "1000mAh" denoted that I needed some type of special power rating on the power supply/battery.

I'll buy this now.
