I am being baffled by how hard it is to find a 0-10V analog control to manage dimming on an Advanced Mark 7 LED driver.

This can't be a hard nut to solve... anyone out there have a simple linear 0-10V circuit I can build quickly?

I have a 7W 12VDC power supply and just need a simple 0-10V analog output to control the dimmer (old school analog lighting controls)

Help? I will give you credit...

 

For dimming common LEDs PWM is often the preferred method.

 

an adjustable voltage regulator will work. a few parts and a pot to tune the voltage is all thats needed.

 

See the attached for a couple of ideas.

The circuit on the left initially looks more attractive due to it's simplicity, but noise on the power supply (shown as V1) is coupled through to the output.

The circuit on the right uses a 10v 1W Zener diode to establish the 0v-10v range. The 200 Ohm resistor limits the current through the Zener to around 10mA. Notice that the output from the wiper is much more stable than the circuit on the left.

The .1uF caps are present to quiet down the noise from the resistors.
