Your Favorite Way to Flash an LED?

Get a really BIG LED, and use roofing flashing.
More seriously, I expect that there is at least one circuit which uses one 555 chip, and alternates LEDs.

Yep, I thought I could find it online.

With a microprocessor, one doesn't need timing resistors and capacitors, and can vary rates and duty cycles without changing component values. That would actually be my favorite way to accomplish this task.

No, just value-conscious. I need a machine that works well for a long time. I expect at least 10 years. I prefer lower TCO than lower initial price, which is a false value.

I used to use an Mac back in 1996 in my job as an scanner operator. I also did page layouts and stuff too. I remember them being 150MHz machines, which were state-of-the-art at that time. Did the graveyard shift 8pm to 8am Monday to Sunday and often used to crash out on the floor at 3am for a couple of hours shuteye. Sooooo tired...
