Have you checked the polarity of your thermocouple wires? My best guess is that you have them reversed.
...although even then it would be a huge coincidence for the backwards numbers to line up so neatly (theoretically this only makes sense if the junction temperature at the control module is exactly 50 degrees.)

Thermocouple (+) to Pin 1 and Thermocouple (-) to Pin 2. What type Thermocouple are you using? Keep in mind that most thermocouples using color coded wire the Red is Negative. Additionally the Thermocouple will need Thermocouple wire from the TC to the unit. What little information I could find on the unit does show the correct TC connections. I saw no mention of TC type so assume it is set in the unit.
