Hello Guys,

For my modeltrains I must write several pic's 12f629.
I used Google because this is the first time I am gonna do that but I can't find what I must use.

Many users seems to have problems with the pickit3 and this chips, so should I go better for the pickit2 or 3?because the problems I have read are many years before.

Thanks for the help and when I have it in my house I'll going to ask what next.

With kind regards.

Either PICKIT2 or PICKIT3 should work. When I first strted using PIC16F629s I used a parallel port programmer baised on the Tait design. I think I have programmed them using bothe PICKIT2 & 3

Oke, then I go for an pickit 3 I think with the usb connection.
Can I learn somewhere how I hooked it up.
I have now an ch341a but they would not work with the 12f629.

If using MPLAB-IDE then use Pickit2 for sure, Pickit3 is a pain to use with it.
I program in Assembly so the IDE version seems alot user friendly for this.
Plus you have the Pic stand-alone analyzer/programmer to use.

I am talking about the V2.61 Software in conjunction with a Pickit2 rather than pickit3, which does not run with it.
I got one of the Pickit2 knock-offs, works fine!
