Worst songs ever written / sung? Lets try to keep the list limited to songs that were in the mainstream. I am sure there are PLENTY of bad relatively unknown songs out there.

Here is one for the top of the list. Sammy slaughters it.

Tony does a pretty good job of salvaging a horrible song.

Sammy Davis Jr was an Icon, this song was one of many he was known for talented dancer, singer song writer. Music overall has declined over the years, Frank Sinatra did a good version of the song, it's a classic in my opinion. I have fond memories, listening to that song as a child. Sammy was a member of the Rat Pack, which by anyones standard put you at the top of the heap and just because it's old music doesn't mean it's not worth listening to. There are plenty of rotten songs out there but this is not one of them.

My nomination is, "Working in a coal mine".
Here's the whole song in 16 lines and 75% of it is repetition:

Well I been workin' in a coal mine
Goin' down, down
Workin' in a coal mine
Whew! About to slip down

Well I been workin' in a coal mine
Goin' down, down
Workin' in a coal mine
Whew! About to slip down

Five o'clock in the mornin'
I'm up before the sun
When my work day is over
I'm too tired for havin' fun

I been workin' in a coal mine
Goin' down, down
Workin' in a coal mine
Whew! About to slip down

Showing my age here...

A pox on your house for bringing back that memory. My parents forced me to listen to that as well as

But it wasn't done by the Rovers rather some freaky family with freaky little kids. I can't remember the name of the family.

ot really bad. Just quirky. This was a fav on the local Pizza Hut jukebox back when I was a kid. I guess Leon is mainstream enough but I might be breaking my own rules. Then again it is my thread. ;)

Arggh! So much cringe!
I'm pushing 70 and I always thought The Rat Pack was out of style. Suit and tie, Las Vegas night club singers from the 1940's...
Muskrat Love was merely a nuisance on the radio back in the early 70's, much like Gangnam Style was later. I didn't even notice what decade that was.
The Unicorn Song and What does the Fox Say? They're good if you have the musical sophistication of an 8 year old. My niece loves them.
I like Asia. Fantastic voices all.
Asia always puzzled me. I got a feeling that they were speaking to Vietnam War veterans...which ain't me.
In my book, Asia is a lot like ABBA. Excellent musicians can turn crap into gold...but it didn't work that time.
It's the bad songs that have something that makes them also a hit that are really a nuisance.
That's where I am with Karma Chameleon. That one was on the radio like a Viagra commercial, and that was the summer I turned the radio off.
I guess Leon is mainstream enough but I might be breaking my own rules.
Leon Redbone? I'm glad I missed that one. For a moment, I though of Leon Russel. Pretty much equally bad.
What can I say other than ugh...
Yeah...glad I missed those, too. (Rap isn't music. If you can't hit a note, you aren't a singer.)

OK. Coffee time is over. Carry on.:)

Whoa! Now you're talking crazy. Leon was a brilliant musician.

But if we're opening up a can of whoop-ass on rock idols, I nominate this sonic turd:

I always hated it and could never understand how anyone could listen to it.

I think, the instrumentals were great.
