Yup, metric is much easier. Lets see, DIP pins are 2.54 mm apart and a Quad NAND chip has 14 pins so the outside pins are 15.24 mm apart on the long side and rows are 7.62 mm apart.
Interesting. Standard NATO round ... 7.62 mm
Standard pool table ... twice as long as it is wide.

Useless trivia ... with no specific relationship to the topic at hand other than pure coincidence the numbers worked out that way. :D

I seem to recall that on some pool tables (maybe coin op) that the cue ball is a different size. At least there was something different about it, so that it was returned on a scratch, but the numbered balls were not.

The standard diameter for pocket billiard balls, as defined by the Billiard Congress of America, is 2-1/4 inches plus or minus .005 inch.
You can find two and three-eights cue balls for those machines that don't use magnetic type cues for vending pool tables online.

I play more games on non-vending pool tables than vending pool tables.

So, depending on where you play, the answer is yes ... or ... no.

Playing snooker is a good way to increase your skills as well as your overall game.

Playing on a smaller pool table is more difficult, if you have learn to play on a full size table?

DIP pin separation: 0.3"
The round on which NATO standardized around: .30-06 and the .308 Winchester, both of which are .308" caliber rounds. Interestingly, none (that I am aware of) of the 7.62mm rounds are actually 7.62mm at any point, but are 0.308" bullet diameters.

The 7.62mm comes from a direct conversion of the 0.300" nominal (as in "by name") caliber family of rounds, virtually all of which are 0.308". As such, 7.62mm really isn't a measurement, but a nomenclature that looks and feels like a measurement.

There are similar things throughout the firearms world. We know about .38 Special caliber revolvers, yet the .38 Special is the exact same bullet as fired by the .357 Magnum with a bullet diameter of 0.357". So the .38 is merely a name, not a measurement.

I keep this fact in mind. All tables are twice as long as they are wide. I practice on a 9 ft table. It keeps me shooting softer. The pockets on American pool tables are the same size no matter which table you use.

Moving to the smaller tables, the pockets are closer and seem "bigger" because of the shorter distance from my eyes to the pocket.

I once made three consecutive 8 ball on the break on a 3x6 table in one bar, breaking from the left side and 8 ball in the right-side pocket.

Snooker ... I haven't seen a snooker table in so long (12 ft table and smaller pockets). I would love to practice on them.

The US Amateur Championship series is on 9 foot tables. Bar boxes are typically 3.5 x 7 foot. The league where I play uses 4x8 foot tables at one location and 4.5x9 at my team's home location. I play on bar boxes, 4x8 and 4.5x9. When I screw the pooch, I remind myself ... the tables are the same ... twice as long as they are wide, so the angles are the same relative to the position on the table. :D

I hear more complaints from people moving to play on the 9 ft table than the other direction. Even those who play on bar boxes hate playing on 8 ft tables.

I view it like this ... shooting a 3 inch target at 100 yards is harder than shooting one at 50 yards and at 25 yards. One thing that happens is the target "seems" larger at the 50 yard mark and 25 yard mark ... even though we know it's only 3 inches.

There is a reason I use 25 yard targets at 50 yards. One tidbit I found out at the range, the 22 cal LR round drops 4 inches at 100 yards.

Has anyone ever played 4-ball billiards? I played it as a kid growing up but I haven't seen anyone playing it since. It was played with a red and blue ball and two white balls, one for each player.

Is, or at least was very popular when I was growing up in the UK, actually more popular than pool..

RCH was a common small adjustment.

According to wiki ... approximately 1x10e-5 meters is the adjustment for "hair".

I'm not really wanting to add fuel to a "metric vs imperial" debate but 0.1" DIP chips are about as obsolete as inches are.

I had a problem with connectors etc that previously had pin spacing at 0.2" (5.08 mm) but the same connector manufacturers now have re-tooled and they come as exactly 5.00 mm pin spacing. It caused a problem on one product as I had designed the PCB for snug 5.08mm spacing then the next batch of connectors ordered did not fit the existing PCBs. I needed to redesign the PCB with fractionally larger holes, and deliberate 5.04mm(!) spacing, so now they can source old stock (5.08) or new stock (5.00) mm connectors and both types will fit.

Most of the new SMD parts are metric, things like 6mm square QFN ICs with 0.5mm pitch legs etc. The PCB houses now are using metric tools, everything from the software to the cutting tools and drill sizes. Even things like the panelisation, ie if you get a panel of 8x8 small PCBs and measure you'll find they are spaced on a grid in integer mm when the PCB house laid them out for you.

Trust me when I say imperial measurements in electronics is a thing of the past. It's only a matter of time before the slower countries catch up.
