I'm setting up a hollow cathode discharge for spectroscopy purposes and I need to conduct from a wire to a rod, and then from a rod to the electrode.

Can I simply wrap the wire around the rod, and place the electrode on top of the rod in contact?

 

Hello there welcome to AAC! in order to avoid confusion. Spectroscopy in it's basic form is the study of how light Interacts with molecules. Therefore clarification is needed .May I ask what are you trying to achieve? The type of electrode will depend on the material used and depending on your application.
