Would you have your wireless receiver close to your volume pedal, or close to your amp and use an extra cable out to the volume pedal

I would put the receiver right on the pedal board.
Being wireless there's no risk of getting shocked if you touch a mic or a hot chassis on an amp. The 2.4 gigahertz is getting crowded but if you have the latest alphabet soup also known as IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ax.
