I connected 3.5 mm trrs plug to the Jack of the cell phone and tablet but it does not work as if the phone is not detecting the connection but it works on the laptop. I can walk away from the laptop and talk in the transmitter mic and the signal is good. Do I have to enable developer options on the cell phone and do something. I heard of odg but I don't know what that is or does. I prefer the wireless mic with the cell phone because the audio is better with the video from a distance.

Do you have the TRRS pin-out correct (dependent on the age of your equipment). This is what ChatGPT says :-

Important detail
There are two TRRS wiring standards:
  • CTIA (most modern phones — basically all smartphones)
  • OMTP (older devices, now rare)
They swap the mic and ground pins, so mismatched accessories can cause weird behavior unless you use an adapter.

Bottom line
  • Phone jack = almost always TRRS
  • Plain headphones = TRS works fine (just no mic)
  • Headsets with mic = need TRRS (CTIA standard)

It must be the CTIA standard because the wireless mic works with the laptop and the laptop is about 8 years old and it's an HP and they wired mic works on the laptop and also the tablet and phone for video recording. The wireless mic has USB c charging on receiver and transmitter so that's modern so it must be the CTIA standard. On the cable from the wireless receiver to the cell phone has a TRS plug on one end which goes to the receiver and a trrs plug on the other end that goes to the cell phone, so maybe the audio output is shorted on the cell phone-somehow preventing the mic signal connection, I'm not sure how the interface circuit is designed inside the phone. Would putting a cable with the t r r s plug on both ends possibly work between the receiver and cell phone jack? Also do I have the cable reversed and the trrs plug must go into the receiver and the TRS plug must go into the cell phone?

Reversing the cable between the receiver and the cell phone did not work. T r r s on both ends did not work either.

IMG_20260416_231709707.jpgThis is the trs to trrs connection from receiver to cell phone plugs. I think the NC connections probably need resistance to ground so the phone detects the external plug.
