I have 2. Memory Slots in my System and just one is used now.

So it gives me the Specs for Device Locator = DIMM 1. and as it goes to the Specs for the next Memory it says Device Locator = DIMM 3.

Why does this not say DIMM 2. why does it call it DIMM 3.?

Plus it gives Speed as like this Speed = 3200 is this telling me in MHz?

My Motherboard is HP 8717.

My understanding (probably better described as a guess at this point) is that your motherboard (or its parent) was designed for four memory slots and that they were intended to be use as two memory channels. So, in dual-channel mode, you could populate a DIMM in Slot 1 and Slot 2 and have two channels, and then add two more DIMMS in Slot 3 (to go along with the one in Slot 1 to max that channel out) and Slot 4 (to go along with Slot to to max out the second channel). But your particular motherboard may not support dual mode, so it just makes the two slots for the first channel visible/accessible, which are Slots 1 and 3.

The 3200 MHz is the speed of the RAM, (and this is a common data transfer rate for DDR4 RAM) which may or may not be the speed at which it actually operates in your system, since other factors may limit it to a lower speed.

Take all of this with a grain of salt.

Different than what? The non-Pro version? A version earlier than Win11?

Curious how that would impact the interpretation of what the TS is asking about. Not saying that it doesn't, just asking how this needs to be interpreted differently than it would if this had been whatever (unspecified) thing it is different from.

 

My observation is that ms products seem to always change as many aspects as possible.
Of course, this does seem to be a hardware thing, so it might not have been changed. It is also possible that I was, in fact, off base on that call.

 

I type in the Run Box System Information.

The screen that comes up tells all the System Specs.

It tells how much System Memory is installed but not how many RAM Slots are on the Motherboard.

I was looking for a good way to see everything on the Win System without having to use another Program.

Is there a DOS Command that will tell everything in the System?

 

I typed this into a search engine "windows 11 command line commands" One of the first URLs listed was

This gives a list of the 280 possible commands. (Many of which I never knew existed.)
