To whomever redacted @GopherT 's post:
I wish to make it clear
that my sensibilities are not that delicate! --- As I have stated, on multiple occasions, I welcome corrections and requests for clarification! -- As I see it, public fora can serve no purpose whatever if 'peer review' is discouraged! --- I would far rather address sincere challenges, than remain blissfully ignorant of errors and ambiguities - no matter how trivial! -- Please know that I regard very little as more embarrassing than the specter of misinformation (above my signature) floating about the web in perpetuity!:eek::eek:

@GopherT

Indeed it was a misspelling of "more so" (the price for using Google as a 'spell checker') -- and after all my 'finger wagging' on this post :oops::oops::D

Best regards
HP:)
For the record

@#12 and @tcmtech

To clarify my stance --- Yes, 100% agreed that behaviour changes! -- I was, indeed, referring to "core values" -- Inasmuch as several decades are required for most of us to identify our own core values -- It's hardly surprising that divining those of others is rather challenging!

Best regards
HP:)

It sounds like your Ex is going through menopause. My wife is, and for a short time her hobby was to find fault with everything I said. I would describe something as "red" and she would correct me that it was "crimson". (Crap like that.) After a few (many) light hearted (painful) discussions (arguments) she stopped (does it less often). :D:D
I pondered that many times. It just didn't quite add up being she is still in her 30's.

However medical issues have been a constant suspicion from the get go. She has hypothyroidism and I felt that she never got the medications exactly right . I felt she took sort of works most of the time to be good enough and left it at that.

There an app for that. No no, I mean there is a drug for that. :DI used to call them my wife's happy pills. I was always more than willing to go to the pharmacy to pick up the refills.
As of last year she was also diagnosed as being pre diabetic and she did very little to deal with it. She had some sort of crap medication from overseas that she claimed was a cure for diabetes but everything I could find on the stuff was that it more than likely just masked the symptoms and didn't cure anything.
On top of that were a number of other pills vitamins and supplements that she felt were the fix for not getting exercise or watching what she ate.
Add in believing that astrology and other BS belief systems was the fix/reason for everything and it all drove me nuts.

I don't know if menopause is the reason, but a person feeling internally out of control would naturally grasp for control of their external world.
Yea control was a huge issue with her. Anyone she saw that did not follow or agree with her belief system was automatically irresponsible and wrong.
We went to counseling once so that she could get an expert opinion that I was a childish irresponsible slacker with no concern for my family. The counselor basically gave me the all around good bill of mental health and said I had very good stress management practices and there was no real need for me to have further counseling unless I felt I needed it.
She however was told that she had sever control issues and whatnot and she should be seeing the councelor at least once or twice a week for an extended period to work through them.

The counselor review went pretty much the opposite of what she believed so that was the beginning and end of counseling right there and was to never be spoken of again.:(

I, and apparently a Moderator, mistook the motives of Gopher. The redaction was not about you, it was about cleaning up posts with no higher goal than being pedantic.
It troubles me when posts like this are deleted. I read the post before it was deleted and thought nothing of it except for the odd spelling of "moreso". Deleting posts like this is not healthy. Please stop doing this.

Yep especially so in my threads. In my threads I prefer posting to be free range until they get under my skin and so far nothing I have seen has given me so much as a reason to raise an eyebrow let alone see the need for deletion.

So yea, MODS PLEASE STOP DOING DRIVE BY DELETIONS IN MY THREAD!
If you have a problem with what someone said then bring it out where everyone can have a say in it. I won't mind. :)

No wife, no girl friend, no hassle!!!

On the subject of being single, there's an adult joke I could post. However AAC has a "General" rating (suitable for viewing by families with children of all ages) and it would be deleted faster than greased lightning.

Is was not a 'drive by deletion'. It was deleted after some thought AND googling 'moreso'. Sometimes it is hard to tell the difference between sniping and a legitimate question and we have a lot on our plate. Hopefully you understand.
The original post has been restored.

That reminds me of a story I heard long ago about finding a wife and how things changed over the years.

Back in the old days it was standard practice for the hopeful Husband to be to have to offer a substantial dowry to the bride's father in return for her hand in marriage. :)

For many years that system worked well enough but it did have its problems from time to time regarding situations where a guy with the best of intentions paid a substantial sum of his assets to his bride's father in order to marry her expecting her to live up to the value of what he gave for her but in return ended up with a wife who was for the most part useless or worse.

At some point some wise lawyer, or at least one or more who had paid a substantial sum for a bride that turned out to be worthless, came to the conclusion that being that items of substantial cash value were being traded for a bride that that transaction was infact no different than any other business transaction and thus as with any business the seller or in this case the brides father was legally obligated to provide goods that were of a fair equivalent value to the price paid.

Now given that that meant that the brides father had to honor the transaction by either providing a replacement for a defective daughter or give a refund of what had been traded and take the defective daughter back into his own home.:(

After having been put in that less than favorable legal situation the fathers of what could be seen as less than marketable daughters (due to age, appearance, health, attitude, and or combinations of) came to the conclusion that if they gave their daughters away they were under no legal business obligations to ever have to take them back being in a legal sale or trade situation something that is given away freely is deemed a 'as is where is no implied warranty and no returns' business deal. :D

And thus that is how the present day tradition of the father giving away his daughter at the wedding only moments before the new husband says 'I do' where her attachment to him becomes a legal and binding contract came to be! :p

As you wish. Unfortunately, it isn't you who gets to determine what's acceptable and what isn't. Sometimes, I wish it wasn't me, either. You might have a thick skin and let things roll right off your back but not everyone is you. The mod staff has to take everyone's feelings into account, not just yours. Some of your posts get reported and we have to deal with the legitimate concerns of the members that you might offend. That's why we tend to err on the side of civility.

As I said earlier (#49), we never just see a post from a member and say 'That guy is a pain, smack him'. We try to understand and accommodate the dynamics of keeping an eye on a few thousand Type A personalities - every day. There are no 'drive by deletions', each post is taken by itself on its merits and we try to take into account the context as well as the tone as we read it. If you keep having your posts deleted, maybe you need to take your own look at what you are posting and how you are expressing your points. As far as 'for no reason', adding a reason to a deletion that alerts the member is an extra step. We are redoubling our efforts to at least use some boilerplate and send an 'alert' so a member knows what the mod was thinking.

That said, I have not personally deleted any of your posts (I don't think). But since you have some that you think were deleted unjustly, post or PM the URLs of the thread(s) - your choice, public or private - and I will take a look at the deleted posts. If any deletions are questionable, I will ask the mod that deleted it and if necessary, get you hooked up via PM and you can make your case there.

How's that?

Wow three day now and I have yet to have a single bag of garbage to haul out or a roll of toilet paper to reload or a toilet to unplug. :D

Also after checking my electrical utilities web site to see what my average daily power usage rate is I see that the last three days are a good third lower than the average for these days of the week.

You have that backwards. Dowry was paid by the bride's family to the groom. Maybe you see the rationale of why the bride's family had to pay the groom to take her. You agree?

A man about to get married is not logical. He ignores all available evidence and repeats the same mistake billions of men have made and hopes for a different outcome. That is one definition of insanity.

Well I learned something new then! :p

Where I come from it has always been referred to as a dowry but I can see that in other places the more correct term is 'Bride Token' or Bride Price'. Us simple prairie folk never as' been goods with wording stuff.

And yes I most certainly see why some fathers would be willing to spend a good deal to get them out of the house and make sure they don't come back.

Rather profitable. Casual observation at my house shows that females use 2.5X the amount of toilet paper and hot water that males use.;)
I observed that with two in my house the toilet paper consumption was closer to an exponential multiplier of 2.5

By myself one roll is good for ~10 days.
With my wife it was good for ~ 4 days
With wife and daughter ~1 day.

I used to try and keep at least two weeks worth on reserve but now I see that reserve will be good for at least 6 months! :D

One way to remember the correct term is that young women collected a "dowry chest," which was often a cedar chest filled with handiwork, like quilts, blankets, and such. Even in the 20th century, my mother came complete to her marriage with a cedar chest made by her brother. Of course, at that point (1939), the term dowry had lost its meaning in America. In some more agrarian societies, the dowry consisted of sheep, goats, and pigs, which typically are not happy in a cedar chest. ;)
