I disagreeMoney is different. Dreams are different.
So most Americans are not living an American life?35.6% of Americans have a college degree (according to the Census).
That might actually be the case. We call this the hollowing out of the middle class, where "real" wages have declined every year since 1970.So most Americans are not living an American life?
Unless you and/or your family has more money than brains before you set foot on campus. It only depends upon your passion for a particular subject.
After You have the passion,
it's only a matter of learning how to
define all the mis-understood terminology surrounding your passion.
Then spend time with people who have similar interests,
either through Books, Videos/Websites, or in person.
Attending College is proven to lower your I.Q. .
Do You want to be proficient at regurgitating what You have been told,
or would You rather have the ability to actually understand what You are looking at ?
My preference is to have above-average competence on a wide variety of subjects,
then I can better "weed-out" the people/sources who may be incompetent.
I've met, seen, or otherwise experienced,
plenty of PHDs/Doctors who are complete, blind idiots,
even in their field of specialization.
College doesn't guarantee anything, ( except a huge debt ).

It seems your mind is preventing you from thinking clearly.I know its impossible without a degree....
Which is cause and which effect? The smartest people I have known have been self-educated, for sure.Attending College is proven to lower your I.Q.
I fall in this category not smartest but self learnt.Which is cause and which effect? The smartest people I have known have been self-educated, for sure.
The most successful people are autodidacts. It doesn't matter whether they attend university or get formal training, it is the autodidacticism that raises them to the highest levels. If you don't learn on your own, you can only know what someone has told you.I
