Why IC CD4047 is used in the single phase half bridge inverter

It is an oscillator with two outputs with each output at the opposite polarity on each cycle. These outputs drive the two MOSFETs in push-pull fashion to drive the output transformer.

The outputs of the CD4047 can swing from ground to the positive power supply so they can drive MOSFETs. The drawback with driving MOSFETs with the output of a device from this logic family (CD4000) is that the outputs are capable of only supplying a small amount of current, so it cannot drive large MOSFETs with fast pulses.
