hello friends i am recently working on my personal project which is making a controller for a pmsm motor and with a software to control or tune its parameters like VESC if anybody have heared about it i have splitted this project into few phases iam current in the first phase the aim is to run a 5v DC motor using the throttle which has 3 pins +ve, -ve and input i have connected the input to the motor by providing power suppy to the motor and the throttle but it does not ran but in the place of motor i have used a led it glowed and i can adjust the brightness by throttling i know i have to use a transistor or a MOSFET but my question here is why it does not directly working what kind of amplification it requires like current or what? please help me to understand the core so that i can go deeper

Agreed. You need more power.

A transistor alone won't make any difference, but you'll use that to control a higher power source. It will isolate your low-power information signal from the higher power motor circuit.
