I am trying to repair an oscillating tower fan fora family member. The fan part spins nicely and makes an OK breeze. But the back and forth oscillation was not working at all. A detailed investigation revealed that the little synchronous motor was quite locked up, because the coil form plastic had melted and kept it from turning. Because the motor had for some reason burned to a crisp inside. So, with solid evidence of a failed motor, I installed an exact replacement. It runs very well, the moment the fan is plugged in. I checked and the tiny control triac has less than an ohm between the two power terminals. There is the problem. it is small, but well marked in it's T092 little body. It has numbers: LT876, TIMSF (or is it T1M5F?), and bottom row, "600A"This is supposed to switch on the 120 volt mains power to a 3-watt motor.
A search for LT876 revealed that was a popular combination of symbols. NONE of which were a T092 case device such as a triac.
So who makes them and who distributes such wonderful parts??
The fan is a "LASKO" brand, it does not seem that they sell repair components.
