Joe speaks the truth, at least from my perspective. In my sport, everyone wants to be able to make a living doing it. I saw that as a distinct possibility and since I was making my living at the time as a Network Consultant I found that ScubaBoard and the diving surrounding the site took up more and more of my time. I first added google ads and then I started hitting up dive businesses for ads. I haven't had to earn a real living for several years now and I like that. it suits me just fine to putz around the world diving and posting about diving. Even more rewarding is that I am now infamous among professional divers. If they don't know me personally, they know who NetDoc is and what I mean to the diving community. Notoriety has it's own rewards and I'm OK with that, even if I am here more by chance then by merit.
