Hello everyone.
I'm genuinely curious about where do you guys are when you are reading/writing to the forums.
I have spikes of interest, that's why I don't ask/read much. It's been more than 10 years, I graduated and I'm not even 100 posts yet.
But I come here mainly at my work.

 

Wherever I happen to be at the time. I mostly access it through my cell phone.

At a computer.

 

Are you guys employed? Retired?
Being retired and having this activity is pretty nice because it exercises the brain. Useful for longevity without dementia.

Thank you everyone for answering such post. I admire your efforts after all the work you've been through in your lives. I want to be this way too.
(I always was kind of apprehensive because the forums are mainly to discuss serious topics, but now I figured out that I can chat in the off-topic with everyone, and everyone is being nice.)

I think for many, were fortunate, like myself, to have enjoyed doing the work we did as a career, For me it was not really "work" .
This is one reason many of us carry on 'Tinkering' into old age.

It reminded me of a news clip I watched some time ago about some sheep farms on Scotish islands, where due to the drop in demand for wool, the industry on them collapsed, so the trusty sheep dog had lost his only source of occupation, he resorted to an attempt in herding the resident farm cats to relieve the bordom !
Not alot of success there though!

One of two locations, my home office is part of my workshop (a converted garage) so I spend most of the working day with my desktop PC and big screen, I will often scan AAC for new posts that catch my eye and perhaps post if I'm inclined.

The other is inside my house where I sit in the morning with my two Italian greyhounds. I will sip a coffee, catch up on news and scan AAC or reply to people on AAC, I personally hate using my phone, so I rarely do anything with it but text and speak to people.

Coffee is what it means to me to wake up. Otherwise I am a zombie, unmotivated.
Nice dogs you have, they have a very comfortable living for what I see.
I also hate to use my phone for forums and lots of thinking, attaching photos, these kind of manipulation, it's simply not designed for it. I hope that soon we have ARM laptops (doesn't drain battery as much), so the laptops will be lightweight and powerful enough for everything. I just play old games, so it's not that hard to currently meet these specs, but I wonder when the world will migrate definitely to it.

The lads (as I call them) are 12/13 or so now, they rest more and like to doze between meals, very restful company. They are half-brothers and the white dog looked after the brown one when he was a tiny pup, they've been together like 11 years now.

Maybe you can buy a cheap module that receives the 433 MHz and via I2C or SPI you can read the relative strength of the signal. So that way you can go through the "hot/cold" method.

The thing is that in BRL it costs the "eye of the face".
The same Laptop on MercadoLivre in BRL
8800 reais is almost 6 minimum wages here.
I paid 7200 for a laptop that's entry to the gamer laptops.

 

I am retired but still doing some half-day consulting, but this next Friday I will now fully disengage from electronics-related work.
But I own a pair of rental properties, and keeping tenants in check and properties in good condition is A LOT of work.

I just didn't get the conection between anything here. But the phrase is deeper than it seems.

 

I'm retired, and typically sit at the kitchen table (with a nice view of the Colorado Western sky) using a Windows home-built, all-in-one style computer, consisting of a GMKtec mini PC (≈ 4"x 4"x 2") attached to the back of a 24" Dell monitor, with a Dell sound-bar below the display (the monitor, keyboard, and mouse are from my tower PC that slowly died after 13 years).
I have a USB DVD R/W drive, and a USB webcam to mount on the top of the display if needed.

When I travel, I take a 15.6" Windows Pentium laptop with me.

I never work on a smart-phone as the screen is way too small for any serious schematic displays.
