Assuming cost etc to be no different from that of 1 Oz Copper, are there any cases you will prefer to have 1/2 Oz thickness as opposed to say 1 Oz thickness?
Assume low currents, slow enough signals, no impedance control requirements, no thermal mass constraints.
Just curious.

 

I etch my own boards and half ounce etches faster, makes etchant last longer, and I rarely need 1 ounce for current density. But 1 ounce stock is more commonly available.

I used 1oz copper for commercial PCB's.
As you may know there can be a problem with 'hair line' breaks in the copper that can occur over time, due to heat stress, especially near components soldered to the track/pads.

Use 2oz copper for power type PCB's
