Question about FETs

Since you're learning about MOSFETs, you should get yourself into the habit of using the correct terminology. FET is the general type. It would be helpful to specify the specific type of Field Effect Transistor you're referring to avoid confusion.

Some are: MOSFET (enhancement or depletion mode), JFET, IGFET, MESFET, ...

Depletion mode MOSFETs and JFETs are on with no gate bias.
