What type of motor should I use?

I am a complete novice when it comes to motors and all things electrical and hoping I can get some advice /education here. I need a small (10mm wide if possible) motor or solenoid that:

1. Will operate off 9V or smaller battery
2. Will rotate shaft 180 degrees when current is applied
3. Will rotate in the opposite direction (180 degrees) when current is removed
4. Torque is more important than speed

Do such motors exist and if so, could anyone point me to manufacturers and the name of the motor I should be looking for. I have checked out specs for Micromo and Johnson, but honestly don't understand the terminology so not sure which if any of their products might do the job.

What does the motor have to do?
How heavy of a load does the motor have to move?
How reliable does the motor have to be? Is this a toy, a medical/life saving device, or something in Between?

Its for a consumer home product - nothing lifesaving - but needs to have a long life and be reliable
it will be turning a small "cam" gear, which will in turn push a small pin (about 3mm wide) into and out of a sliding track to serve as a locking and unlocking mechanism. So its not really pushing any weight so to speak but their may be lateral force. I am not sure what that lateral force will be until I build a prototype

Get a little toy motor, put a worm gear on it. Have the worm gear turn a larger gear (100 tooth) that turns the cam. Each turn of the worm gear will turn the larger gear one tooth. You'll have plenty of torque. You'll have time to switch it on/off with limit switches (or just do current sensing to shut down the motor if it draws more than x milliamperes.

Sounds like an RC servo will do it, a 555 IC would drive it.
It offers positioning, rather than open loop.

9v or smaller battery. OK, I'm not sure what that means, but we'll all guess, and us blind men are all sure the other guys were feeling something other than an elephant.

Once?

This is a unique individual device? a modification of something? A science project? A proof of concept?

This is an unusual forum, to speak politely,,, but "something from nothing" questions generally gets long threads and tangents,,, and not much else.

You can also go to a junkyard and get a door lock motor off of a Honda (1998-2001 and possibly more years) used a little motor to pull the door lock pin up/down. Once you see how it was done, you'll have more ideas how to do this.

Here is a video - no need to go to the junkyard...
