Agreed. I’ve replaced many of those. Sometimes they just blow but it’s worth looking for a cause.It's not a diode. It's thermal fuse. e.g. one of these http://www.galco.com/techdoc/nte/nte8149_dat.pdf You need the numbers off of it. Hopefully one is a temperature. it's a typical safety device found in cooker and hair dryers for instance.
And that is why they are usually crimped or spot welded into the circuit.If you find replacement for the fuse, be aware that the connections are almost impossible to solder fast enough, and therefore need to be crimped.
