It's an 8 bit DAC, but I don't think it puts out 0-255 volts

So what is the output voltage range? I'm looking for a DAC to hook to a speaker, and I don't want to blow it up.

To drive a speaker to any real volume, you will need to run the DAC output (through a filter preferably) into an audio amplifier. The DAC will be relatively high impedance compared to a speaker and cannot drive a lot of current.
